While Steve has performed at many shows to benefit numerous causes, he focuses his financial suppport on three important charities.
Freeing the innocent
Two of the non-profit organizations have a similar mission in that both work to exonerate and secure the release of prisoners who have been falsely convicted of crimes. Centurion Ministries conducts new “in the field” investigations of cases, while The Innocence Project makes use of advances in DNA-related technology. Having even a modest part in freeing an innocent person is a great feeling.
The Bank of Bruner has made 400+ loans to Kiva
Steve is also an ongoing supporter of Kiva, which sounds like a new breakfast cereal, but is something much better. In late 2006, Steve read an article about attracting abundance into one’s life. Then he heard about Kiva, and knew he found the perfect way to appreciate and foster abundance.
Kiva is a non-profit organization that connects people through lending to alleviate poverty. Thanks to the internet and a network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create and foster opportunity around the world.
Steve made his first $25 loan in 2007 and was instantly hooked. Since then, he’s made more than 400 micro-loans and enjoys every loan as much as the first loan. Lenders can invest in more than a dozen categories of businesses, including agriculture, health, education, and services.
